KHAIRPUR, Jan 9 Life remained paralysed for the third day on Saturday in Khairpur district due to an extreme cold wave and fog. Schoolchildren and employees were among the worst victim of the situation.

Traffic remained jammed on the National Highway and at various roads of Khairpur city and other parts of the district.

Weather remained foggy since Saturday morning till 1pm due to which people going to schools and offices faced hardships. Hundreds of people, including patients and old people, remained confined to their homes.

Growers said that the fog would benefit wheat crop, banana and date palm orchards as the crops could not be watered properly due to shortage of irrigation water.

However, cattle owners said that buffalos had decreased milk production due to cold and fog for the last two days. —BoC
