KARACHI, Aug 5: At least four-foot long and three-foot wide water chamber, situated in the middle of PECHS’s Mehmood Ghaznavi Road, near Tariq Road’s commercial area, has been lying uncovered for the last one year.

People residing in the vicinity of the road, which bifurcates Tariq Road and Khalid Bin Waleed Road, complained that although a number of accidents, involving motorcyclists and pedestrians, have occurred owing to the open water chamber, neither any concerned official of the KWSB nor the locality’s Nazim has, so far, bothered to cover it with some iron/concrete slab.

Apprehending that the open water chamber might prove a death trap, the residents urged City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and senior officials of the KWSB to get the chamber immediately covered.

Sewage: Sewage accumulating in the backyard of a house in PECHS Block 2 for the last one month has created stinking and unhygienic environment in the locality.

The ankle-deep stagnant water, which was being used for commercial purpose, has become a mosquito-breeding ground, causing malaria and other diseases among the residents of the nearby houses.

Residents of the locality complained that although they had repeatedly requested the people who are running some computer business in House No 135-D of PECHS Block 2 to clear the gutter water, they seem least interested in doing so on the plea that it was the task of KWSB’s sewerage department, whereas the Board’s kundimen have refused to do so.
