CHARSADDA, Dec 29 A girls' school was blown up by suspected militants in the Shabqadar area of Charsadda district on Tuesday.

The militants had planted explosive devices around the buildings of the government-run primary school in Haleemzai. In the explosion, almost all the rooms of the school were destroyed.Police later arrested four suspects during a search operation.

MPA Haji Mohammad Ali Khan of the Pakistan People's Party (Sherpao) criticised what he described as the arrest of innocent people.

He said that if the arrested people were not released until Dec 31, he and his supporters would block the main road and hold a demonstration at the Shabqadar roundabout.
