ISLAMABAD, Dec 27 The second death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was observed on Sunday across the country.

Thousands of people, including President Asif Ali Zardari and other top PPP leaders, converged on Garhi Khuda Bakhsh town, in Sindh, for the main events of the day.

President Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto, federal and provincial ministers, and party workers and supporters visited the shrine of the late leader to offer Fateha. President Zardari made a speech on the occasion.

A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement also visited Benazir's shrine.

Many civil society organisations held seminars celebrating the life of the consummate politician that Benazir Bhutto was. Memorial references marking the anniversary were also held.

Quran Khwani was held in the federal capital, all the provincial capitals and in Gilgit-Baltistan for the departed soul.—APP
