SANGHAR, July 15: An old couple, Rasool Bux Chandio and Hashoo, residents of the Budho Chandio village, near Shahdadpur, have appealed to the higher authorities to provide them as well as their family protection from the killers of their two sons and daussghter-in-law, Sohni Chandio, who had been killed on July 12, 1999 at the Bhudho Chandio village.

Ms Sohni had married her cousin, Mohammed Sharif, against the wishes of her family in 1994. Her relatives had declared her as ‘Kari’ and killed her, her husband, and her brother-in-law, Azam Chandio.

Ms Sohni had three children, the youngest was two-months old at the time she was killed.

Hashoo Chandio said that was when their woes truly started.

She said that two out of the six accused nominated in the FIR were in jail, while the rest were absconding or had been freed on bail.

She said that their enemies were threatening them to withdraw the case otherwise their daughters would be kidnapped or remaining sons would be killed.

She further said that the accused had also implicated her sons in false cases by setting fire to their hedges and blaming her sons for it.

ISTBA: Election for the Interior Sindh Tax Bar Association (ISTBA) was held on Monday.

The following office bearers were elected unanimously: President Abdul Razzaq (Tando Adam), Vice President Mansoor Ahmed Memon (Tando Adam), General Secretary M. A. Khan (Sanghar), Joint Secretary Mohammed Iqbal Alvi (Tando Allahyar).

BREACH PLUGGED: A breach that developed in the Jam Wah on Saturday was plugged on Monday.

Hundreds of farmers from several villages helped in plugging the breach.
