NAWABSHAH, June 29 Power consumers in Nawabshah and its adjoining towns and villages suffer agonisingly long electricity loadshedding and low voltage in the hot and humid weather.

Low voltage and fluctuation when the power comes finally on gut electrical appliances in Daur, Bandhi, Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand and Doulatpur.

The prolonged loadshedding also leads to an acute shortage of water supply.

Reports said that the voltage was so low that coolers and air conditioners did not work even with the help of stabilizers. No Hesco senior official was available in their offices or on mobile phones for comments.

Huzoor Bux Soomro, taluka officer regulation, said that they faced difficulties in keeping up supply of water due to low voltage and prolonged outage. He said that they had lodged many complaints with the officials concerned but there was no improvement in the system.

President of Sarrafa and Zargaran Association Haji Mohammed Aslam Shaikh said that business activities had hit rock bottom as the labourers in gold shops and factories could not work due to outages, which ultimately resulted in losses.

Mohammad Hakim and Kamran Rizvi of Pak Colony said that prolonged power outages were agonising but low voltage and fluctuations when the power finally came on were more psychologically taxing.

“For a couple of weeks, air conditioners in our home could not run due to persistent low voltage,” they added.

An official of Hesco said on request of anonymity that the duration of loadshedding often stretched to 8-10 hours. The fluctuation and low voltage were caused by improper supply, he said.

He admitted that Nawabshah was not getting enough power from Dadu in the wake of collapse of 132KV poles in the windstorm and alternative power supply from Hyderabad was not sufficient and resulted in low voltage.

He hoped that power supply would become normal within a week.
