NAWABSHAH, June 27 The official website of Nawabshah district government, www.nawabshah.gov.pk, has vanished from the web for the last couple of years due to indifferent attitude of officials.

The official website of the Sindh Local Government Department,www.lgdsindh.com.pk, has also not been updated for years.

The official website of Nawabshah district, launched during 2003-04 by then Zila Nazim Faryal Talpur, remained functional for a couple of years. It had all the technical details and information about the district and its administration besides the history of district.

The website was an effort to provide information, technical assistance and other details to the citizens through latest technology. But the website vanished due to shortage of officials in IT department.

When this reporter tried to gather information about Nawabshah from the official website of Sindh local government department, i.e. www.lgdsindh.com.pk, it was revealed that the site was also not upgraded for years.

The name of District Nawabshah has not yet been changed to Shaheed Benazirabad in the official website whereas there was no name of the district coordination officer working presently.

There was no information regarding the taluka municipal officers of talukas of district Nawabshah, Daur, Sakrand and Doulatpur.

Interestingly, the names of nazims of union councils of Taluka Nawabshah, Doulatpur and Sakrand were mentioned for year 2001-2005.

The website has no information about the current development programmes i.e., People's Programme.

But the name of Sindh minister for local government was upgraded as Agha Siraj Khan Durrani.

EDO (finance) Farooq Mahessar told Dawn that the official website of Shaheed Benazirabad would be made functional during 2009-10.
