THIS has reference to numerous news items appearing in various newspapers these days regarding running an express trains from the Margalla railway station, Islamabad. However, it is ironic that Islamabad lacks a railway station of its own even though it is the capital of Pakistan.
The Margalla railway station, which was constructed a long time back, lacks so many facilities which are essential for passengers. The following proposal is submitted as a potential solution to the above issue
— The Golra railway station is situated on the main railway tracks between Peshawar and Rawalpindi and exists in the premises of Islamabad. This is also a junction where trains can change their destination. All trains pass through this station and not much expenditure would be incurred for renovation of this station.
This railway station will not only benefit the citizens of Islamabad but also those of Taxila, Wah and Hassanabdal (as it will be nearer to them).
Keeping in view the above facts, it is requested that the authorities concerned may look into the possibility of declaring the Golra railway station as Islamabad railway station and renovate it in the best way possible.
