PESHAWAR, June 13 Power supply to the Mingora city was restored from the 132KV Mingora grid station through six feeders on Saturday.

Transmission lines and the distribution system had been badly damaged in the fighting between militants and security forces in the Malakand division, disrupting power supply to Khwazkhela, Madian and Shangla grid stations.

Power supply to Mingora, Saidu Sharif and Gulkada areas was restored by repairing two damaged transformers installed at the Mingora grid station, says a press release issued here on Saturday. Earlier, Pesco had restored electricity supply to Chakdarra, Timergara and the Bajaur Agency.

transformers NWFP Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour has said that 20 new transformers costing Rs30 million had been installed in various localities of Peshawar city and 70 more transformers would be installed soon to improve power supply to consumers.

He stated this while speaking at public meetings in different localities of Kakshal on occasion of inaugurating uplift schemes in PF-3 Peshawar on Saturday, says a handout.

He reiterated the pledge that solid steps would be taken for development and beautification of Peshawar city as well as providing abundant civic facilities to the citizens.

The schemes include main drain along Shabbir Shaheed road, installation of new transformers at Mohallah Ghafooria Murshadabad and Mohallah Wazirabad, Gul Darra.

The minister made it clear that he would never tolerate any lethargy on part of officials nor would compromise on quality of work.

Mr Bilour said that Shabbir Shaheed Road in Kakshal-I was being completed with a cost of over Rs3400,000.

He said eight other roads were being constructed in his constituency in National Bank Colony, Zargarabad, Darakhshan Colony, Abdul Jalil road, Gulab Abad, Yakatoot to Hazar Khwani and Namak Mandi to Kohati that would improve the communication facilities in the area.

The minister, during inspection of Shabbir Shaheed road, directed for removal of the garbage heaps and containers to improve hygienic condition in the area.
