HYDERABAD, April 30 The officials of Faran Sugar Mills alleged on Thursday appealed to the authorities concerned to take action against the land-grabbers who had occupied the sugarcane mills` research farm.

The deputy general manager of the mills, Ghulam Sarwar Chandio, and cane development officer Agha Mashooq Ali said at a news conference in Tando Mohammad Khan that some armed miscreants had occupied the mills` sugarcane research farm measuring 15 acres and deployed gunmen at the farm.

They said that the miscreants had tortured the mills` security guards to occupy the farm. They had made a complaint in writing to the district administration but no action had been taken so far against the miscreants, they said.

They said that the farm was meant for education of sugarcane farmers in cultivation of different varieties of the crop and claimed that the mills had undertaken many social welfare schemes in the area and established health and educational centres and held free medical camps.
