HYDERABAD, April 20 Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union president Abdul Latif Nizamani has condemned the murder of Qesco line superintendent Javed Qasim and his son Hassan Javed.

Mr Nizamani said in a press release that Wapda employees had been working day and night in valleys and mountains to provide electricity to their countrymen, but instead of appreciating their services, they were being subjected to torture and killing.

Protesting against the killings, the union president called for the Balochistan and federal governments to order the arrest of the murderers and to award a Rs2.5 million compensation to the heirs of Javed Qasim.

Unions provincial secretary Iqbal Kaimkhani and other leaders also condemned the murder of their colleague.

Meanwhile, Mr Kaimkhani and other Hydro union leaders of Sindh congratulated Mr Nizamani and Khursheed Ahmed on their election as president and general secretary of the union, respectively.
