HARIPUR, June 30: The district council could not approve its revised budget for the year 2002-03, as pandemonium prompted prorogation of the council session here the other day.

While reading out the revised budget to the house, district Nazim Dr Raja Aamir Zaman said the budget would be formally presented and approved after receiving instructions from the NWFP government.

Some members objected that they had not been given copies of the budget, and caused a rumpus in the house.

The Nazim, however, kept on reading the details of the budget and after he had summed up his speech, Naib Nazim Riaz Khan Jadoon prorogued the session till Monday (today).

Angry coucil members later distributed some written material, which accused the Nazim of allocating funds unjustly. He was also accused of appeasing the people of his chosen areas in PF 49, from where his brother is said to be contesting for the October general election.
