RAWALPINDI, April 3 A man accused of making bombs and preparing explosive-laden vehicles here on Friday confessed to his involvement in planning a suicide attack on former President Pervez Musharraf.

The accused, Noor Mohammad alias Umer Siad, a resident of Malakand Agency, stated before Special Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Masood Janjua that he had prepared almost all the vehicles used in suicide attacks, according to a source close to the investigation.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested the accused on March 24 after he was declared proclaimed offender in a case registered with the Sadiqabad police following recovery of three explosive-laden vehicles in the city.The accused admitted that he had obtained training in bomb making and preparing and altering vehicles filled with explosive substances. He said he had also been imparting training to others. The court later sent him to the Adiala Jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

Twelve other suspected terrorists - Intikhab Abbasi, Abid Khan, Mohammad Ishaq, Mohammad Kabir, Qamaruz Zaman, Zafar Ali, Mohammad Zameer, Tauqir, Mohammad Sajjad, Abdul Sattar, Farhan Mehmood and Rashid Mehmood - are already in the jail in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the district and sessions judge to send the record of all pending cases, along with the reasons behind the delay in disposing of the cases, to the apex court. According to a court official, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has asked for the detailed report on the pending cases and the reasons for not disposing them of on time.
