No new tax in Sukkur budget

SUKKUR, June 29: Taluka Nazim Syed Kazim Ali Shah presented a tax-free budget for the year 2002-2003 in the taluka council here on Saturday.

According to the budget, the expected income through taxes and other resources will be Rs143,892,500 and the total income will be Rs176,851,300.

The expenditure of Rs176,839,935 has been shown in the budget which include salaries of staff, contingency, streetlights, development works, repair and maintenance and payment of arrears.

An amount of Rs3,000,000 has been given as subsidy for the retired employees.

For the development works, Rs8,415,435 have been kept through the sources of the taluka council while the funds of the KPP would also be utilized for development schemes.

The Sukkur Taluka Municipal Council has to pay the dues of Rs200,749,181, out of which Rs5,000,000 will be paid through the council’s own resources.

Naib Nazim Haji Wazeer Memon chaired the budget meeting.

FREED: The Sindh government has ordered to release the six JUI and SSP leaders who were arrested some two months back in a crackdown on religious leaders in Sukkur after the bomb explosion near a hotel in Karachi.

Those released from the Sukkur Central Jail on Saturday were identified as Maulana Abdul Shakoor, Maulana Hasan Shah, Qari Abdul Latif, Maulana Mohammad Hanif Bandhani and Mohammad Yaseen Rajput.

Allama Abdul Razzak Haidery, who was also on the list of the released persons, was not released by the central jail authorities as he was also indicted in a case under section 295A, 504, 148 PPC.

KILLED: Two brothers, residents of Khanpur, died when their motorcycle collided with a trailer on Friday night near Khanpur Maher, Ghotki district.

Talib Gadani, 35, and Qutub Gadani, 32, were on their way when the trailer, coming from opposite side, hit their motorcycle.

The diver of the trailer fled leaving behind the trailer.
