KARACHI, June 28: The United Workers Union of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has criticised the postponement of the referendum in the KWSB and termed it a conspiracy.

In a statement, the union leaders — Kaniz Fatima, M. Akram Khan, Joseph Sanam — demanded that a new date be announced within a week.

The referendum in the KWSB was scheduled for June 29.

The union leaders warned that if the new date was not announced within a week, the workers would launch a protest demonstration from Keamari to Chalea.

They alleged that referendum had been postponed due to an understanding reached at between the KW&SB management, the CBA union, and the Labour Directorate. They warned that if referendum date was not announced within a week all responsibilities of the protest would lie with the management.
