HARIPUR, June 27: The Haripur Tehsil municipal administration presented the annual surplus budget with an outlay of Rs69.993 million for the year 2002-2003, showing a considerable increase in the allocations both for development and non-development expenditures as compared to out-going fiscal year.

The budget was presented by Tehsil Nazim Iftikhar Ashraf Khan and the session was presided over by council convener Amin Khan Badhora.

The budget document carried an increase of Rs11.965 million in the size of total outlay of the current budget, which was revised at Rs58.028 million.

According to statistics provided in the new budget, a sum of Rs54.993 million was projected as net income supplemented with Rs15 million as opening balance.

The TMA’s income this time around witnessed an overall increase of Rs3.681 million from the last year’s income of Rs51.312 million.

The reason behind this enhanced income was stated as contracting out the collection of property tax to a private contractor for Rs10.07 million against the last year collection of Rs9.31.

The total allocation for development expenditures is projected at Rs29.514 million, for on-going schemes Rs11 million and for new development projects Rs18.514 million, including Rs0.3 million for petty works, against last year’s allocation of Rs17.794 million with an increased amount of Rs0.719 million.

The development outlay also carried a sum of Rs2 million for purchase of vehicles for the TMA.

Non-development expenditures also witnessed an allocation of Rs0.962 million from the last year’s budget of Rs37.833 million, which was shown as this time for Rs38.796 million.

This upsurge in the non-development expenditures was noticed due to hefty allocations for contingencies and establishment charges which shot up to Rs1.150 million from the current fiscal year’s budget of Rs0.319 million.
