LARKANA Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro says that the upcoming local bodies` elections would be held in accordance with 1973 constitution.

Speaking to the PPP workers, lawyers and nazims of Awam Dost Panel (ADP) at district council, he said that Local Government Ordinance issued by former President Musharraf would

expire in 2009. Therefore he said the ensuing local bodies elections would be held in accordance to the 1973 constitution.

He said that the federal government had carried out a huge exercise regarding the coming local bodies` election and sought suggestions from all the provinces. He said Punjab,

NWFP and Balochistan had agreed to hold polls under the articles enshrined in the 1973 constitution.

Sindh has endorsed the decision of the three provinces and sent its proposals to the federal government. He said that the old system, where chairmen were heading the district

councils would be revived.

He criticized politicians from the opposition camp who were demanding mid term polls and added that the present government would complete its tenure.

He said President Asif Zardari had taken prudent decisions under the reconciliation policy which had further strengthened democracy in the country.
