KOHAT, June 23: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam has rejected the Madressah registration ordinance and demanded of the government to enact strict laws to control the activities of foreign NGOs operating in the country.

Speaking at a party meeting here on Sunday, the NWFP secretary-general of JUI, Maulana Gul Naseeb, and chief of Balochistan JUI, Maulana Shirani, said that without implementing Shariah in the country peace could not be restored and the situation would deteriorate further.

They said that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and it was the duty of the religious parties to safeguard the ideology of the country at all cost.

The JUI leaders asked the government that instead of taking steps against religious parties it should concentrate on efforts to control price hike, corruption and root out injustice which was eating the very foundations of the country.
