KOHAT, Oct 7: Bahar Studios are launching a local news channel after the district government formally approved the project for Kohat only, it is learnt.

The channel would telecast only news and documentaries in local dialects.

The chief executive of the TV channel, Abdur Rehman Dilawari, told Dawn that preparations were underway to launch the channel as soon as possible for which correspondents were being appointed in the whole area from Kohat up to Kurram Agency to give the people a wide and timely coverage of daily events.

Cable TV lines: Unidentified people severed cable TV lines in various parts of the city for the fourth time in two months, while 80 meter wire was stolen in a city area.

The cable operators have blamed activists of a particular religious group for disconnecting the main transmission line and stealing wire in the KDA township worth thousands of rupees. However, they said cable TV service was restored in some of the affected areas after necessary repair work.

The cable operators said that for improved transmission the entire main line needed to be replaced for which arrangements were being made. However, they said it would take a couple of days because of high cost involved.

They said they had informed the police about the incidents and lodged FIRs with the co cerned police stations but the problem had been persisted for the last two months. They appealed to the viewers to keep an eye on those who were behind these incidents and help them in apprehending the culprits.

The cable operators had launched a massive hunt for the culprits on their own after the police failed to make arrests despite their complaints against a particular group, who they said, was involved in severing transmission lines.
