France`s Decosse wins judo title

TOKYO, Dec 13 Beijing Olympic silver medallist Lucie Decosse gave France its first title at the Kano Cup judo tournament on Saturday, defeating Japan`s Asuka Oka in the 70-kilogramme class.

Decosse, also the runner-up at the world championships, fought off scoreless regulation and extra time to win by a decision.

In other competition on the second day of the tournament, which is part of the World Grand Prix series, Japan added two titles to the two they won on Friday. South Korea and Slovenia also notched title victories.

Japan`s Masahiko Tomouchi scored a yuko with 54 seconds left to beat compatriot Hirotaka Kato in the men`s 81kg final, while Takashi Ono beat South Korea`s Lee Kyu-Won by a yuko to win the men`s 90kg title.

South Korea`s Wang Ki-Chun threw down Japan`s Yasuhiro Awano for an ippon only 26 seconds into the men`s 73kg final.

In the women`s 63kg category, Urska Zolnir of Slovenia edged past Japan`s Yoshie Ueno by a decision after scoreless extra time.—AFP
