SIALKOT, June 8: Five persons of a family including two women were killed by Indian shelling on Pakistani border village Charwa near Sialkot working boundary, here, on Saturday morning.
According to the official sources, Manzoor Husain, his wife Amna, their two sons Zahid Hussain and Iftikhar Hussain and daughter Hameeda Bibi were sitting in the courtyard of their house, when some Indian mortar shells hit them, killing all of them on the spot.
The Indian security forces, on Saturday, fired more than 800 small and medium sized mortar shells on Pakistani border villages in Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Bajragarhi, Charwa, Harpal, Chaprar, Suceetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors of Sialkot working boundary badly damaging more than 100 houses, two mosques, three school buildings and 19 cattle heads. The Indians targeted the civilian Pakistani population.
13 INDIANS KILLED: Official sources confirmed that the Pakistan Army responded immediately and effectively, killing 13 Indian armymen, destroying four posts (Narayn, Chhabu, Akhnoor and Kit Posts), six bunkers, two heavy Indian army’s ammunition depots, three big defensive pillars, besides, causing other losses to the enemy, during the retaliation.
Six Indian army men were also, reportedly, killed in two heavy land mine blasts in Jammu and Saamba sectors along the Sialkot boundary on Saturday.
The traffic on Sialkot-Kingra-Merajkey road, on Saturday, remained suspended due to intensified mortar shelling.
Three Pakistan nationals Karishan Lal, his wife Roop Matti and son Sohan Lal were also critically injured due to Indian shelling in Shakargarh-Narowal sector, in the evening. They were admitted to the local hospital, in critical condition.
The firing between Pakistani and Indian security forces was going on till filing of this report, late in the evening.
WOMAN KILLED IN AK: A woman was killed and at least nine others, four from the same family, were injured in Azad Kashmir when Indian troops resumed shelling on Saturday, officials told Our Staff Correspondent in Muzaffarabad.
They said the Indian troops, using long-range weapons, had again shelled areas close to the city of Kotli for the second consecutive day at about 4pm.
More than a dozen shells landed in and around Dakhari Kot, a village on the left bank of River Poonch and one of them hit a mud house, injuring four residents, Bashiran Bibi, 60, Nishan, 35, Shaheen, 32 and her 3-year old daughter Ukasha.
