HYDERABAD, April 29: The Sindh Development Society and the Pakistan Coalition for Education jointly organised a seminar at the Hyderabad Press Club on Friday to mark the “Global Action Week” (Education for All).

Advocate Fazal Qadir Memon presided over the seminar.

Speaking on the occasion, the executive director of the SDS, Mr.Ghaffar Malik, said that his organisation had been working for the last 10 years for the promotion of education and healthcare and elimination of poverty.

Social worker Wajid Shams urged the civil society to work for the promotion of education.

Azizullah Baloch said that in Islam acquiring of knowledge was not only the right of every male and female but also their basic duty.

Saeed Ahmed Memon advocate stressed the need for organising educational seminar at village-level to motivate villagers to send their children to schools.

Those who spoke on the occasion included, Masood Khan Soomro, Ghulam Mustafa Mallah, Shaheen Bhatti and others.

GSTA: The working committee, Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), Latifabad taluka unit at a meeting held here on Friday has expressed resentment over the delay in the promotion of JSTs (female) and the inordinate delay in holding the department promotion committee for the promotion of JSTs to HST.

The meeting also criticised BISE, Hyderabad, for irregularities in respect of the posting of external examiners.

The taluka president of the Association Mr.Iqbal Khan presided over the meeting. The district general secretary of the Association, Mr.Zamir Ahmed Khan also attended the meeting.

It regretted that five months have passed since the holding of DPC for the promotion of junior school teachers (female) to selection grades but the promotion orders have not been issued till date. It also criticised the delay in convening DPC for promotion of junior school teachers to high school teachers.

The meeting alleged that the BISE of Hyderabad had appointed teachers as external examiners in the on going class-IX and X examinations on the basis of nepotism.
