GUJRANWALA: Seven hurt on Basant

GUJRANWALA, March 5: Some seven youths were injured while celebrating Basant festival in Garjakh Town on Saturday. The kite-flying started on Friday night and continued, almost at a stretch, till dusk on Saturday.

Seven youths - Irsalan and Osama of Shah Suleman locality, Masoom Ali and Zahid of GT Road, Qasim, Shafqat and Fahad of Kot Noora Road received injuries either after falling from rooftops, chasing stray kites and hitting against vehicles on road. Most of the residents had to pass sleepless night as to the result of continual aerial firing.

Police also arrested five drunkard - Shafiq, Amir, Zafar, Tufail and Waqas while raising hue and cry on Kot Noora Road. A case has also been registered against them.

Police also caught some youths for disrupting traffic on the GT Road during the Basant festival.
