KARACHI, Nov 11: The City District Government Karachi has decided to implement a road safety education park project. The project aims to inculcate among students good road safely habits , and was first planned in 1987 by the KDA, but could not be implemented.

In Karachi, on averages 609 lives are lost and 2,242 people receive injuries in road accidents every year. Of these casualties, many are young children below age of 15 years.

"This loss of life can be prevented and improvements in vehicles and road design can help reduce accidents through road safety education.

Under the project students would be learning about the road safety through traffic games in an interesting way on the pattern on some most advanced countries.

The park over an area of four acres will have a typical road safety circuit, equipped with traffic control devices, and miniature model buildings representing various facilities, which will be used as calling points for traffic games.

These traffic games will be jointly, organized by the Traffic and Communications Department, the traffic police and the education department.

The CDGK has allocated land in Safari Park and work on it will start once all modalities are worked out.-PPI
