DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 8: The mother of camel race victim Kaleem has made an appeal for the release of her second son on humanitarian grounds, who was brought by the government from Dubai soon after the death of his younger brother.

The body of Kaleem was brought on Oct 13 while his father, Mohammed Hussein, was rounded up by the FIA.

His second son, Murtaza (8), is still in the custody of government agencies due to which the health of his mother, Haleema Mai, is deteriorating. In fact, no body has left to take care of the family.

Family sources told Dawn that after the death of Kaleem, Mohammed Hussein had tried to bring Murtaza back, but at that time, the Pakistan Embassy officials in Dubai did not allow Murtaza to go with his father and take the dead body of his younger brother.

Later on, when the incident was reported in newspapers, Murtaza was brought to Pakistan and his mother saw him on television along with Pakistani official in Islamabad.

Quoting Mohammad Hussain, family sources said the Pakistan Embassy was allegedly ignoring the use of children in the camel race as jockeys.

They alleged that dozens of children were sent to Arab managers of the race by Pakistani officials.

"If someone dies in race, the managers with the help of Pakistan Embassy officials try to convince the relatives to bury the body in Dubai to conceal facts," they alleged.
