SAHIWAL, Nov 8: Noorshah police on Monday arrested an SI, an ASI and a constable for providing help in the escape of an alleged killer from the judicial lock-up.

Zahid, son of former zila council member Rana Safdar Ali, had been killed on Oct 6. Police arrested UC Nazim Muhammad Idrees and his two grandsons, Jahangir and Shahbaz. On Oct 29, Shahbaz arranged an iftar for policemen and escaped when he got the 'opportunity'. On Nov 7, a case was registered against accused SI Mushtaq Ahmed and ASI Zaid Ali and constable Shaukat while they were arrested on Monday.

The DPO has ordered suspension of the three arrested policemen besides initiating a departmental inquiry against them.

ARRESTED: The City police on Monday rounded up a general councillor of Kot Khadim Ali Shah for alleged corruption of Rs4.2 million.

Councillor Muhammad Siddique Butt had been a distributor of a multi-national company at Adda Gamber. He bought stores from the company and gave a cheque of Rs4.2 million which was bounced. On the report of company's general manager, a case was registered against the councillor. He managed a pre-arrest bail which was cancelled and the police arrested him. He was sent to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

LOOTED: Three masked robbers on Sunday night looted Rs8,400 from a shopkeeper.

Rizwan Chaudhry, after locking his medical store, was going to house with his friend Farid. Farid Town police have registered a case.
