NAWABSHAH, Nov 6: On the call of the Primary Teachers' Association, teachers' boycott of classes entered third day on Saturday, badly affecting education of thousands of students in the district.

The teachers have resorted to boycott to put pressure on the executive district officer of education to accept their charter of demands. The PTA has announced to continue the protest till the acceptance of the demands.

As a result, educational activities in 3,224 primary schools of the district have remained suspended since Thursday and the six-monthly examinations, which were to begin from November 2, have been postponed.

The 21-point charter of demands has been presented to the EDO by PTA district chief Kamaluddin Channa. It includes promotion of BEd pass teachers, award of selection grade according to the seniority list, reinstatement of teachers sacked by army monitoring team, computers for main primary schools and computer courses for teachers, lifting of ban on utilization of the School Management Committee funds lying in bank, regularization of contractual teachers, jobs for teachers' children, payment of salaries on first or second day of every month, transfer of ADO (male) from Sakrand, increase of clerical staff in the ADOE offices, release of budget for difference bills, computerization of record, increase in supervisory posts, release of benevolent fund and supply of furniture to schools.

A meeting between the EDO and PTA leaders was held here on Wednesday but it failed and the PTA called for boycott.

Reliable sources informed this correspondent that both the parties had agreed on 19 points, excepting reinstatement of sacked teachers and re-verification of educational certificates of teachers.
