GUJRANWALA, Oct 28: The destitute and widows are facing financial crunch for the Zakat committees have so far not been constituted due to the alleged interference of legislators and Nazims.

It was learnt here on Thursday that the government had dissolved about 1,400 district zakat committees due to the involvement of its various members in embezzlement and tampering with the record a few months ago.

However, the provincial zakat council had nominated Rana Zahoor Ahmad advocate president of district zakat committees and directed him to complete the process of forming committees immediately. But the members of parliament and Nazims allegedly were pressing the district zakat committee president to include their men in these committees.

When contacted, Rana Zahoor confirmed the interference saying that he had informed the provincial zakat council about the predicament.

KILLED: A man killed his sister and her lover in Alipur Chattha on Thursday.

Reports said that 'N' and Kashif were sitting together in a field when accused Zulfikar Ahmad reached there and opened fire on them. Both of them died on the spot. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
