GUJRANWALA: Chargesheet after 14 years

GUJRANWALA, Sept 18: The People's Colony police produced the charge sheet to the court here on Saturday after 14 years of registration of a murder case.

Police had arrested Arshad 14 years ago in a murder case and did not submit the charge sheet against him. The murder accused filed a complaint with the district and sessions judge regarding his detention. Judge Jawaid Iqbal Siddique ordered the police to submit the charge sheet to the court instantly. The case was adjourned till Sept 20.

PROTEST: The motorcycle-rickshaw owners association on Saturday protested against the district administration and the traffic police for not allowing them plying the three wheelers on the GT Road. They took out a procession and blocked the road by parking the rickshaws. Later they dispersed peacefully.

Reports said the district government had banned motorcycle-rickshaws on the GT Road some two weeks ago as the three wheelers were hampering the smooth flow of traffic. The police had impounded the vehicles for violating the ban.

FREED: Kidnappers released a landlord of Khewaywali village, Wazirabad after receiving a ransom of Rs500,000 on Saturday.

Ghulam Sarwar was present at his house a week ago when some men riding a car came and called him out. They took him away to some unknown place and later demanded a ransom of Rs500,000. The kidnappers released the landlord after getting the amount.

Sadar Wazirabad police have registered a case.

ELECTION SYMBOLS: The returning officer here on Saturday allotted election symbols to the candidates contesting by-election on PP-93 scheduled to be held on Oct 11.
