KARACHI, July 31: The Sindh minister for Planning and Development, Shoaib Bukhari, on Saturday laid the foundation stones of two government boys colleges worth a total of Rs78.475 million.

Both the colleges - Government Boys Degree College, Sector 9/E/1, Baldia Town costing Rs47.436 million, and Government Boys Degree College, Sector-C costing Rs31.039 million, are included in Sindh government's Annual Development Programme 2003-04.

Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari said the government was implementing development programmes not only in urban areas, but in rural areas as well.

"We do not keep people on false promises nor fleece them, but have made service to people our mission. Whether in the provincial or in the local government, our history is full with instances of service to people."

The minister said it was an utmost effort of the provincial government to set up modern educational institutions so that our future builders could acquire knowledge, matching the modern era requirements, and face challenges to lead the country on the path of progress.

He told students that in order to save our educational system, use of unfair means in examinations would have to be done away with.

He asked them to acquire education with hard work, dedication and a sense of commitment so that a civilized society could be brought into being, and our nation could join developed nations. - APP
