Musharraf, Jamali greet Singh

ISLAMABAD, May 22: President Gen Pervez Musharraf Saturday greeted Dr Manmohan Singh on assuming the office of the Prime Minister of India and said Pakistan welcomed his resolve to improve relations between the two countries.

"Please accept my heartiest congratulations on your assuming the office of the Prime Minister of India," he said in a message of felicitation.

The President said: "We in Pakistan welcome your government's resolve to improve relations between our two countries."

"I wish to assure you of Pakistan's sincere commitment to find a just and peaceful solution to all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.

"We also look forward to further strengthening regional cooperation under the aegis of Saarc," the President said.

JAMALI: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, while congratulating Dr Manmohan Singh, expressed the confidence that the process of composite talks between Pakistan and India to resolve all outstanding issues would be productive.

"It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on your assumption of the high office of Prime Minister of India. We wish you every success in the discharge of your important responsibilities," he said in a message to his Indian counterpart.

"We are confident that under your leadership, Pakistan and India relations will continue to develop and the process of composite talks for the resolution of all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, will be productive," the prime minister said.-APP
