MULTAN, March 20: Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Ahsan Salim Hayat was installed Colonel of the Regiment of a unit of the Armoured Corps here on Saturday, an ISPR press release said.

According to the ISPR Multan, Corps Commander Multan Lt-Gen Mohammad Akram, and Brig Shahid Wahab Rao affixed Colonel of the Regiment badges on his shoulders.

Lt-Gen Ahsan Salim Hayat said he was commissioned in the Pakistan Army and joined this unit 37 years ago.

Lt-Gen Ahsan Salim exhorted officers and Jawans to pay a befitting homage to martyrs, who laid down their lives defending the country.

Lt-Gen Mohammad Akram congratulated Lt-Gen Ahsan Salim Hayat and said that none could be a better choice than Gen Ahsan Salim to lead the unit.

He exhorted the armymen to be ever-ready to defend the motherland, adding that high professional training, high morale and exemplary discipline were the assets of any army unit.

Earlier, the unit's commanding officer, Lt-Col Waheed Hamid highlighted its professional achievements.-APP
