Vajpayee briefs Kalam on visit

NEW DELHI, Jan 10: Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Saturday briefed President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on his just-concluded visit to Islamabad for the Saarc summit and his meetings with the Pakistani leadership to carry forward the peace process in the region.

During a 70-minute luncheon meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the two leaders also discussed other issues of national and international importance, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said.

Mr Vajpayee apprised Abdul Kalam of his meetings with President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali and other political leaders on peace process.

ADVANI: Indian Deputy Prime Minister L. K. Advani on Saturday described as "historic and a major breakthrough" the decision of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and President Pervez Musharraf to resume the composite dialogue to address all outstanding issues including Jammu and Kashmir.-PPI
