Eid Milad-un-Nabi today

ISLAMABAD, April 21: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWS) is being celebrated throughout the country on Friday (today) with religious fervour. It will be a closed holiday and national flag will be hoisted on important buildings. The day will dawn with 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salute in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.

Special prayers and Quran Khawani will be held after Fajr prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country and well-being of the Ummah.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has organized a National Seerat Conference here at the National Library Auditorium. This year’s theme is “Contemporary Needs and Establishment of an Enlightened and Moderate Society in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (SAWS)”.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will inaugurate the conference. Ulema and scholars from all over the country will present their papers on different aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (SAWS).

Milad processions would be taken out from various parts of the country to celebrate the day.

Various religious, educational, cultural and social organizations have arranged special functions and Mahafil-i-Milad. Qirat and Naat competitions are also to be held to mark the day.—PPI
