KARACHI, April 13: Area Snooker Club and Karachi Club “B” took over the lead on the second day of the First KC Inter-Club Snooker Team event registering clean sweeps over their respective rivals Muslim Gymkhana and Karachi Gymkhana respectively, at the Karachi Club on Wednesday evening.

The lads from Area Snooker Club whitewashed Muslim Gymkhana 6-0 and in the process earned two more bonus points. The same could be said about Karachi Club “B” led by former World and Asian amateur snooker champion Mohammad Yousuf, brushing aside Karachi Gymkhana also by a 6-0 margin.

But the overnight leaders Karachi Club “A” dropped two valuable points against their “C” string to slide down the ladder and be placed in the third spot.

In the first match, between Area Snooker Club and Muslim Gymkhana, Farukh Usman beat Jawed Majeed 84/22, Salman Shaikh beat Shoaib Kader 82/33, Kamran Razzak beat Hunain Younus 70/2 and Irfan Rasheed Khan beat Noman 63/9. In the doubles events, Kamran and Farukh beat Jawed and Shoaib 90/35 and Irfan and Salman beat Hunain and Noman 57/43.

In the second match where Karachi Club “B” emerged 6-0 winners against Muslim Gymkhana, Mohammad Yousuf beat Akbar Puri 79/14, Qasim Kamani beat Murtaza Rajab Ali 60/41, Vishan Gir accounted for Mohammad Ali Aziz 77/8, chalking up a break of 75 and Dr. Aneel Bherweani finally overcame Samad Zindini 49/43.

In the doubles events, Yousuf and Dr. Aneel beat Murtaza and Akbar 70/37 and Vishan and Qasim beat Samad and Mohammad Ali Aziz 82/29.

In the third encounter Naveen Perwani beat his younger brother Dileep Kumar Perwani 73/9 with a closing break of 73. Atif Latif Bux who registered the highest break to date of 84 on the opening day, beat Farhan Idrees 58/36. Asim Ghani beat Ahmed Saleem 73/45, but Amit Parwani lost to Bharat Sataini 43/66.

In the doubles: Naveen and Asim went down to Ahmed Saleem and Bharat Satiani 53/68 while Amit and Atiq beat Farhan and Dileep 56/23.
