KARACHI, Feb 17: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Thursday issued directives for an early completion of master plan for areas adjoining Hawkesbay and Northern Bypass and called for a clear defining of the land use.

He was presiding over a meeting held at the Governor's House to review the provision of civic facilities in various cities.

The meeting was attended by Adviser to Chief Minister Waseem Akhtar, additional chief secretaries Ghulam Sarwar Khehro and Mohammed Saleem Khan, project director of the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, Secretary Land Utilization Mohammed Riaz, Special Secretary Local Government Mohammed Ishaq Lashari, EDO Revenue Mohammed Waseem, Additional Secretary Aftab Khatri and other officials.

The governor directed that the master plan must envisaged facilities of residential areas and recreational places, while an environment free from pollution and industrial activities should be ensured. Mr Ibad emphasized that the coastal belt must meet the requirements of recreational objectives.

The meeting was informed that Hawkesbay Road was being cleared of encroachments and would also be widened. The governor directed that the movement of heavy traffic on this road during restricted hours should be ensured.

The EDO revenue informed the meeting that 500 acres of land had been allocated adjoining the Northern Bypass for the shifting of truck stand. He said a land was also being earmarked for timber, auto spare and iron markets.

The governor called for expediting the process of shifting of truck stand from Hawkesbay Road. He said the new truck stand must be equipped with modern facilities. -APP
