JHANG: Three women killed in Jhang

JHANG, Jan 25: Three women were killed in many parts of the district during the last 24 hours. Reports said 'R' of Qadirpur Baksha village was killed by her husband and son on suspicion of illicit relations.

In Basti Pathan, Haq Nawaz stabbed his wife Kausar to death over a family feud. The body of Irshad Bibi was found lying in a drain in Kot Sai Singh village. The woman had instituted a marriage dissolution case against her husband and was living with her father.

She went to the district courts in connection with her case on Monday. When Irshad did not return till late night, her relatives started searching her. In the meantime, somebody told her father that a body was lying in a drain. Later, she was identified.

EXECUTION: A student's killer was hanged in the district jail on Tuesday. Reports said Jamil Naul of Kot Sai Singh had stabbed to death Mazhar Abbas Warriach, a BA student of Government College, Jhang, in 1993 over a petty issue.

The deceased was the only brother of seven sisters. The D&SJ had awarded death sentence to Jamil in June 1994. His appeals were dismissed by the LHC and the Supreme Court and his mercy petitions also met with the same fate. Afterwards efforts were made by notables of the area to convince the complainant party to pardon the convict, but to no avail.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed and three injured in an accident near Gulgasht Stop on Jhang-Multan Road, some 30km from here, on Monday night. Reports said Hayat was coming from Shorkot to Jhang by his car (Karachi-6638) along with his friends. Near Gulgasht stop, the car collided with a tractor. Hayat died on the spot while Yaqoob, Nazir and Pervaiz were hurt.
