DADU, Jan 17: The chairman of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Basheer Qureshi, has said that on January 25, a province-wide strike will be observed if the federal government does not end what he called a military operation in Balochistan , and fails to arrest the criminals involved in the assault on a lady doctor of the Sui hospital.

Speaking on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of the late G.M. Syed, founder of the Jeay Sindh Tehrik, in Sann town on Monday, Mr Qureshi alleged that the federal government had started the operation in Balochistan to control its resources and to deprive the people of their rights.

He appealed to the people, mainly shopkeepers and transporters, to observe the strike in all the towns of the province to express solidarity with the people of Balochistan.

He asserted that the people of Sindh would support the people of Balochistan against any army action, and that even if some parties were not supporting the cause, his party would protest against any such action.

The Gwadar port and other such projects were initiated in Balochistan in the name of development, but they were in fact an excuse to set up army cantonments, he alleged, adding that the same was done in Pano Aqil and Mehar, and now, yet another cantonment was being set up in Larkana.

He accused the Establishment of depriving Sindh of its rights, and building canals and dams to destroy its economy. Meanwhile, the Syed family observed the birth anniversary in a simple manner at the residence of the late Syed in Sann.
