KARACHI, Jan 13: Teaching at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology's Gulshan campus could not resume on Thursday after teachers decided to stay away from classes.

The teachers' body of the science faculty of the varsity also held a general body meeting on Tuesday, and resolved that the varsity administration should take appropriate disciplinary action against the students, who misbehaved with teachers on Monday last and had created a fuss on the campus, following which classes were suspended for two days.

Teaching on both campuses of the varsity, as per an official announcement, was to resume on Thursday; however, the teachers of the Gulshan campus were adamant that students should apologize to them formally, or they would not return to their jobs, said a teacher.

The registrar of the university could not be reached for his version. The Baba-i-Abdul Haque campus remained peaceful, and classes were held.
