KARACHI: KU labs to be fully equipped

KARACHI, Dec 24: The laboratories of all teaching and research departments of the University of Karachi will be equipped with the latest scientific equipment so that teachers , researchers and students can accelerate the pace of research activities.

This was stated by the KU Vice Chancellor, Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, while speaking at the concluding ceremony of a workshop on 'Electron Microscopy' held at the campus. The workshop was jointly organized by the departments of Botany, Microbiology, M.H.A. Qadri Biological Research Centre and the Higher Education Commission.

Dr Pirzada said that electron microscopy was an effective invention and its use in scientific research was inevitable. He also announced that an electron microscope would be delivered to KU within the next two months, adding this would greatly help scientists in research and discoveries.

The ceremony was also addressed by Dr Shahid Shaukat, Department of Botany, Dr Shahana Urooj, Microbiology Department, and Dr Aqeel Ahmed of the M.H.A. Biological Research Centre. Dr Pirzada later distributed certificates among participants of the workshop. -PPI
