KARACHI, Dec 21: The inauguration of the upgraded radio-diagnostic and imaging department was held at Civil Hospital on Tuesday. Sindh chief minister's adviser on Health Faisal Malik and former principal of the Dow Medical College, Prof Sharif Chaudhry, inaugurated the newly-renovated X-ray and ultra-sound departments.

The renovation has been made possible by the joint contributions of the Dow graduates of the year 1979, the Poor Patient Aid Society, as well as the Sindh government. A sum of Rs4 million was collected as donations, and spent on the renovation of the entire department. Machinery and equipment worth Rs6.5 million has also been acquired for the upgraded department.

Dow graduates of 1979, now living in the country, as well as in Saudi Arabia and UAE, generated Rs1.5 million for the renovation, while Rs2.4 million were generated by the graduates living in the US and UK. The Sindh government has provided a new X-ray machine for the department. -PPI
