MIANWALI, Nov 29: The local police on Monday claimed to have arrested an injured proclaimed offender after a three-hour encounter in Harnoli, some 30kms away from here.

Acting on a tip-off, Piplan DSP Pervaiz Bandial with a heavy police contingent raided the hideout of PO Abdul Jabbar Qureshi alias Bhoppa at a deserted house in Mohallah Masjid Pipalwali.

In the event of besieging the house, the PO got wind of the police presence and opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire. The shootout later continued for some three hours after which the PO sustained bullet injury. Later, the police arrested the injured PO and shifted him to the local DHQ Hospital.

The arrested PO was wanted by police in several cases of murder, theft, police encounter and other heinous crime. He also shot dead his relative Aslam Qureshi on Sept 9 this year over a marriage issue. The PO had also shot and injured three policemen in an encounter at his outhouse in Kashmira Khan a few weeks ago.
