SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 28: Sadar police on Sunday claimed to have killed three robbers in an encounter near Jhanda Nokrian village on Sharaqpur Road, some 20kms from here.

Police said that six robbers were looting passers by after setting up a picket on Sharaqpur Road.

On receiving information, a police team headed by the Sadar SHO hastened to the spot, but the robbers opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire. Later, three outlaws were killed after a brief shootout while the rest beat a retreat.

They said the deceased outlaws were wanted by Okara, Kasur and Sheikhupura police in dozens of cases of murder, dacoity, robbery and other heinous crimes. Meanwhile, DPO Shahid Iqbal announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the raiding police party.
