SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 21: The Sadar CIA police have registered a case against 15 education officials, including the district education officer and his two deputies, in a recruitment scam involving millions of rupees.

The action follows an inquiry on the complaint of a victim, Sajjad Haider. Those booked included DEO Mukhtar Gill, DDEOs Saeed Ahmad Aulakh and Fazal Ahmad Kharak, AEO Mohammad Ali Thabli, Government Middle School Jeewanpura headmaster Ahsan Saddiq, ex-DEO Khalilur Rahman, Government High School, Herbandhu, Farooqabad, headmaster Malik Riasat Ali Janjua, store keeper Zulqarnain and clerks Mohammad Ashraf and Bashir Ahmad Tabbasam.

DDEO Saeed Ahmad Aulakh has been arrested while hunt for others is on. DPO Chaudhry Shahid Iqbal told newsmen on Sunday that some 200 teachers were also involved in the scandal and would be arrested soon.

He alleged that the corrupt mafia, busy in the heinous act for the last 12 years, had got appointed more than 200 teachers after taking Rs50,000 to Rs100,000 each as illegal gratification. The same gang also got reinstated those who were sacked for their misconduct by the department, after taking a handsome amount from them.

The DPO said the gang members had prepared fake stamps of the Punjab Services Tribunal Board judges and used to prepare bogus court orders, asking the department to reinstate the terminated employees.

He said the victim PTC teachers, including Aslam Gill, Dilawar Husain, Nadeem, Iftikhar Husain, Akram, Aamir Sohail, Ashraf Razzaq, Imdad Husain, Ashraf, Shaukat and Qasim, had informed SP Investigation Salman Sultan that the corrupt mafia had charged hundreds of thousands of rupees from them to get clear their salaries and bogus bills.

During investigation, DDEO Saeed Ahmad Aulakh told police that DEO Fazal Kharak had also embezzled the funds allocated for the free education system up to the primary level. He alleged that the official also charged millions of rupees from retired employees to get clear their bogus and fictitious bills.
