KARACHI, Oct 10: Much to the surprise of the people of Karachi who are used to experiencing extremely hot weather in October, dusty winds, accompanied by a drop in temperature, started to blow across the city on Saturday night.

The Met Office announced on Sunday that the maximum temperature had come down to 33 degrees Centigrade from Saturday's 35 degrees. It added that the minimum temperature was also down to a little over 23°C.

"Karachi normally receives winds from south-westerly and westerly direction. But because of the sudden change in weather last night, the city is currently receiving dusty winds from northerly and north-westerly direction," an official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department told Dawn. He added that humidity had also fallen to 18 per cent.

The PMD official said that dusty and slightly cold weather might continue for one more day. He added that after a spell of cold weather, Karachi would again experience the famous October heat.
