KARACHI, Oct 5: Favourite Amita Arudpragasm from Sri Lanka survived a scare in the quarterfinals of Sub-e-Nau ITF junior tennis championship on Tuesday at Karachi Club on the hands of Rabia Parveen from Pakistan.

Rabia stretched her fancied opponent before losing in three sets grueling encounter. Amita won the first set 6-4 but lost the second 3-6. Both the players had chances of wrapping up third set and the match and eventually it was the Sri Lankan girl that came out winner 7-5.

All the local girls lost in the quarterfinals as besides Amita, Inayat Khosla and Alisha Talwar from India and Chit Yee Su from Myanmar booked places in the semifinals.

Chit Yee Su who stunned Amita in the first leg faced no resistance on her way to the semifinals. She won the match in two straight sets without losing a single point against local girl Tayyaba Bashir 6-0, 6-0.
