KARACHI, Sept 19: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has appreciated Memon community for establishing and running welfare-oriented projects in the country and urged other communities to follow its footprints.

The chief minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Memon Convention, organized under the auspices of the United Memon Jamaat (UMJ), on Saturday, according to a handout issued here on Sunday.

Dr Arbab acknowledged that the Memon community, especially the UMJ, had established projects, like charitable hospitals, maternity homes, schools, colleges, libraries, and educational institutions in various cities of Sindh. All such activities are aimed at helping the poor and needy people, he added.

He assured the UMJ that his government would extend every possible assistance and support to it in running welfare projects. He called upon the Memon community to also set up industries in rural areas of the province so that employment opportunities could be created for the poor masses.

Dr Arbab ordered the education and health departments to fill the vacant posts in the educational institutions of Badin and appoint specialists in Badin Civil Hospital at the earliest. Earlier, UMJ President Justice (r) Abdul Hafeez Memon presented welcome address. -APP
