HARIPUR, Sept 15: Haripur District Nazim Dr Raja Amir Zaman has said that an educated person can run the affairs of the district administration more effectively and graduation condition be imposed for the post of district nazim also.

Talking to APP here on Wednesday, he further said that the Local Government Ordinance of 2001 be amended and condition of graduation be made compulsory. Haripur Public Safety Commission Chairman Chaudhry Zaheer said that to run the affairs of tehsil and district administration smoothly the nazims should be educated, and called upon the authorities concerned to make the condition of graduation imperative.

Javaid Iqbal, President of the Tarbela Union of Journalists, said that local government was suited to the aspirations of people as in this system, district nazim enjoyed the same powers as DC of the past. The selection of DC was done by the Public Service Commission, therefore, it was essential that district nazim should also be at least a graduate, he added. -APP
