KASUR, Sept 2: A dacoit was killed by the firing of his own accomplice during a robbery attempt here on Thursday at Rosa Bhail Sadar village, Raiwind. Police said labourers of a local spinning mills were returning from the factory.

Near the village, six robbers intercepted them at gunpoint and collected cash and wrist watches from Sarfraz, Shakeel and other passersby. Some labourers, including Shakeel and Sarfraz, put up resistance and overpowered one of the bandits namely Jabbar, but his accomplices opened fire on them.

The bullet hit to their own accomplice Saif while the other dacoits except Jabbar managed to escape. The labourers handed over Jabbar to the police. In another incident, three men took away a tractor and cash from a person at Chak 32, Pattoki. Gulzar Ahmad was going from Chunian to Pattoki on his tractor. Near Chak 32, three robbers intercepted him, snatched Rs2,800 and took away his tractor.

RESIGNATION: PPP district president Sardar Mohammad Hussain Dogar has resigned from his slot on health grounds. Mr Dogar said he had sent his resignation to the party's central command.
