Leading stars for ranking event

KARACHI, Aug 30: The 18th Latif Masters national ranking snooker championship will be held at Karachi Club Billiards Hall on Sept 12-17, said Pakistan Billiards Snooker Association (PBSA) on Monday.

The most competitive event of PBSA calendar, carrying the record prize money of Rs 240,000 will be contested between country's 16 top notch cueists, joint secretary PBSA, Arif Taherbhoy said.

Pakistan number one Khurram Hussain Agha will be defending his title. The winner of the title will collect Rs 100,000 while the runner-up will take home Rs 60,000. The losing semi finalists will receive Rs 25,000 each and the remaining two top players from each pool will get Rs 10,000.

In addition, the cueist making highest break will pocket Rs 10,000. The cueists will be drawn in two pools and top two players after the round robin league will advance to semifinals. The entries for the prestigious event close on Tuesday and draws will be released within a couple of days, said PBSA secretary. -APP
